    Eddies in the Gulf Stream (Second Prize)

A recently developed computational method is used to visualize eddy structures in the Gulf Stream off the Atlantic seaboard. The image is generated using ocean current velocity data, and reveals intricate eddy structures that are principally responsible for mixing and energy transfer in the ocean.
