Pictured here is a secondary free body 'surfing' the bow shock wave of a primary free body in supersonic flow. The shock wave from the primary free body significantly affects the trajectory of the secondary free body by changing its surface pressure distribution. This type of experiment is relevant to the study of meteorite break up dynamics.
