Vertically integrated atmospheric water vapor, colored by the latitude at which it evaporated from the ocean. This snapshot from a regional numerical weather forecasting model simulation shows the stirring of atmospheric water vapor induced by a developing mid-latitude cyclone during December 2006. The cyclone can be identified as the area of circular gray contour lines of sea level pressure south of Greenland.
