    Planting the Seeds

The imagery has been generated from diffusion-tensor imaging (DTI-MRI) data of the brain of a mouse lemur (Microcebus murinus). DTI-MRI data allow researchers to perform tractography, the study of connectivity in the brain, by placing a virtual seed in one region of the image and observing to which areas the seed connects. In the image, seeds were placed in the septum pellucidum of the brain; its possible connection to various other regions is shown in red. Selected sections of the brain with connections to the seeds can be seen.
