Shana Goffredi

Filamentous bacteria found living on a recently described deep sea crab, Kiwa hirsuta. The crab lives at hydrothermal vents at about 2000 meters depth along the Pacific Antarctic Ridge and likely farms its sulfur-oxidizing microbial fur coat for nutrition.
