Chi Ma
A pseudo-colored scanning electron microscope image showing an olivine chondrule (3.6 micrometers in diameter) with metallic Fe-Ni spheres at the surface. Such micro-sized chondrules, observed in the Allende meteorite, formed from tiny molten droplets in the early solar system about 4.56 billion years ago.
