    The Reconstruction of Fossilized Embryos from 580 Million Years Ago

Embryos studied are from Precambrian Doushantuo phosphorite. They were firstly isolated by acid maceration, then prescreened under scanning electron microscope, and finally full range scanned under synchrotron X-ray tomographic microscope. The volume data collected were reconstructed, rendered and analyzed in volume processing software VGstudio Max 3.0. The embryo shown here is at Stereoblastula Stage seen in order from surface view, transparency view and halfway segmentation showing yolk platelets inside. Scale bar: 5um.
